Let Pinterest Inspire You To Create

Looking for inspiration on Pinterest is a favorite pastime of so many.

Not only do you see some beautiful projects, clothing, great recipes etc., but you can really be inspired to create your own beautiful projects.

Here is a photo that inspired  to create a layout even though it’s a beautiful gown.

The colors, the lace, the romantic feel all inspired to create this layout.

Pretty Little Studio journaling cards
Basic Grey banner and brad
Studio Calico mistable clouds
EK Success punch

There are so many fun things on Pinterest. This one really caught my eye. I love the stitching and the banners.

Pinterest source and Original source

I used the banners on my layout except I used them horizontally and not vertically. I replaced the stitching with hand cut strips of patterned paper. The original banners are a part of an advent calendar and they have numbers. I punched confetti circles and scattered them randomly between the banners.

Christmas Wrap Up with Therm O Web and DCWV

Christmas may be over and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.

That doesn’t mean we can’t take a few moments (or in this case days!lol) to revisit, catch up and maybe scrapbook a few things from the 2012 holidays.

We’re celebrating the season with amazing products from our friends at Die Cuts With a View. We invite you to catch up on some of your holiday memories this week and join us!

For a bit of a different take on a mini album, try using pre-fab boxed cards and envelopes for the base of your album. It’s quick and easy, and I love the staggered page sizes you get by alternating a card base with an envelope.

Simply layer blank card bases with their matching envelopes. Using an 1/8″ hole punch, punch holes about 1″ up and 1″ down on the inside of each card base along the fold line. Open the flap of the envelopes and punch holes along the fold line to match the card bases when all layered together. To get my holes evenly matched, I laid a card onto the open envelope and marked my holes with a pencil dot.

Dress up your pages with patterned papers, trims, cardstock stickers, and of course photos.

Since there isn’t a lot of extra room for journaling, I created pockets behind my photos in which to slide journaling tags. This is easy to do by only applying adhesive to three sides of your photo. To give a bit of dimension to your album without adding too much extra bulk, try adhering the cardstock stickers with Therm O Web 1/2″ Zots Clear  Adhesive Dots.

When you have completed your pages, thread them together with baker’s twine for the binding.

“Sweet Dreams, Baby” Pillow Door Hanger from Therm O Web

Shhhh….baby’s sleeping…

Getting a baby to sleep or nap..is definitely a much requested wish from all new parents!

Today Designer Patti Milazzo has a sweet baby pillow..perfect for a door or to hang in the room. Our Therm O Web HeatnBond lite makes the perfect adhesive! And Designer Melissa Bullock has an equally sweet  baby layout that our iCraft Sheets come in handy!

“Sweet Dreams, Baby” Pillow Door Hanger by Patti Milazzo

Therm O Web Supplies:

Therm O Web Spray n Bond Basting Adhesive
Therm O Web Heat n Bond Lite Iron On Adhesive

Other Supplies:

Muslin; baby color/themed pattern fabric; solid coordinating fabric scraps; buttons, beads, hemp, silver eyelets; ribbon or trim for handle; baby stamps; Staz-On Ink; polyfil

  1. Cut 2 – 8” x 6” pieces of solid fabric for the pillow.
  2. Cut 1 – 7” x 5” piece of baby themed patterned fabric.  Use pinking shears for fun.
  3. To position the patterned fabric in place without the use of pins, apply Spray n Bond Basting Adhesive to the back of the patterned fabric and position it in the center of one of the solid fabric pieces.  This will be the decorative front of the pillow.  Stitch around the patterned fabric once.

Note: Therm O Web’s Spray n Bond Basting Adhesive is very light and does not gunk up your sewing machine nor does it seep through the fabric.  And if the fabric is misplaced while positioning it, simply lift it back up and reposition it as needed.

  1. Iron on the Heat n Bond Lite to the back of fabric scraps (less than 6” square).  Draw the appliqué shapes onto the paper backing and cut out.

  1. Iron on the appliqué shapes and stitch around edges.

  1. To create no-fray fabric tags, sandwich a piece of Heat n Bond Lite between a folded piece of fabric (right sides out), removing paper backing to completely bond the fabric together.  The fabric can then be stamped and cut out as tags that will be resistant to fraying.

  1. Use hemp to tie on beads and tags to pillow front.
  2. Pin handle material to back side of pillow front so that it will be sandwiched between the front and back pieces of the pillow.  Machine stitch the front and back pieces together, leaving a small opening at the bottom to fill pillow.
  3. Fill pillow with polyfil, do not overstuff.  Stitch bottom closed by hand or machine.
  4. Tie on buttons where handle meets the pillow edge to complete.

Cake Layout by Melissa Bullock

Therm O Web Supplies:

Other Supplies:

  • 1-12×12 patterned paper
  • 1-5×10 patterned paper
  • 1-4.5×6.5 pattened paper for photo frame
  • journaling embellishment
  • chipboard accents
  • 3D alpha stickers

Cut your focal photo and photo frame with a digital die cut machine.  Set the focal photo and frame aside.

Cut the same frame in a smaller size out of a iCraft Sheet.  Cut 2.

Adhere the iCraft frame directly onto the photo.  Trim the photo along the outer edge of the iCraft frame.

Peel off backing from the iCraft frame and sprinkle with glitter to create a glitter frame.

Create the flower accent by wrapping ribbon around a 2″ iCraft Dot.  Start in the middle and twist the ribbon as you wrap towards the outer edge of the circle.  Leave a short tail to tuck under the dot when adhered to the layout.

Spray the chipboard accents with Gold Glitter Dust.

Assemble the layout.  Use 3D Foam Squares to adhere the smaller photos to give the layout some dimension.

Therm O Web Halloween Calendar

I love Therm O Web Removable Zots. I use them to keep my layouts standing up against foam board when I am taking pictures of them!

But I found another use for Removable Zots that my kids love too!

I made a Halloween Advent Calendar (since my kids love counting down days to fun events).

I wanted us to be able to add the dates one at a time and have the possibility of using it again next year so each cut out date square has one of the  Therm O Web Removable Zots on the back.

They stay nicely on the calendar but also remove easily without tearing the paper! And my kids are thrilled to be sticking the days on one by one!

🙂 Rebecca
